China Cymbals

I've been wondering about this for a long time, and I figure I should ask. What's the proper way to mount a china cymbal? Should the outer rim be turned upwards or slope downwards?

I have seen most people have the outer rim turned up, but I've seen a few people with the outer rim turned downwards. I have played on them mounted both ways and I don't really notice any change in the sound, but when the outer rim slopes downwards (like a normal cymbal) it feels better when approached with the stick. Has anyone else noticed this? Suggestions?

P.S., I know this seems a little noobish, but I've been playing for 8 years and have never gotten a definitive answer on it.
